Events
Drills are held on Saturdays @ 1500 ET for all unit elements.
Drill duration ranges between 1 – 2 hours.
Operations are held on Sundays and range between 2 – 3 Hours depending on the type being conducted and start from 1430 ET.
Operation Types
Situational Training Exercises (STX’s) are training focused missions that emphasise learning new concepts and then applying them in the field.
Field Training Exercises (FTX’s) are missions which focus on active engagement in a realistic setting, to prepare us for our deployments.
Operations (OP’s) are missions that are conducted whilst we are deployed during an official campaign, which has a dedicated story-line impacted by the actions of our soldiers with an ever changing and dynamic atmosphere.
Training
One Station Unit Training (OSUT) is our basic training, familiarisation and competency phase which is expected to be completed by all new Privates and takes roughly 1 – 2 hours.
This training consists of formations, battle drills, basic communications, our medical system and land navigation, vehicle familiarization and combat drills.
Warrant Officer Flight Training (WOFT) Program is our basic aviation training school to qualify new and experienced pilots within the unit. This training is split into two phases: Initial Entry Flight Training and Advanced Airframe Training.
Entry Flight Training (EFT) is a two month training course for new pilots that qualifies aviators to fly the relevant airframes within the unit. This training consists of airframe training, flight formations, ISR, Close Combat Attack, Threat Awareness & Evasion training, NATO symbology, flight aerodynamics and maneuvers, radio communications and vehicle identification and acts as a feeder course into AAT.
Advanced Airframe Training (AAT) is a three month training phase that qualifies aviators to fly advanced aviation assets within the unit including the AH-64 Apache.
Throughout your time in the unit you will have the ability to nominate, attend and qualify (as eligible) on a variety of training courses including:
- Officer Candidate School
- Basic Leadership Course
- Advanced Communications Course
- Combat Medical Course
- Designated Marksman Course
- Air Assault School
