Loadout Adjustments - E.Hermanson - 30 Jun 18

All,

This weekend, you will notice several adjustments made to your loadouts. These adjustments have been made in response to suggestions and observation. There has also been a shift in our paradigm regarding "gearing up."

The most immediately noticeable change is that Soldiers will now spawn with their loadouts. (There remains a single box with selectable loadouts in the arsenal room: this is intended to "reset" loadouts if a Soldier wants to return to their default loadout, not to adjust fireteam positions on the fly.) Please ensure you slot into the correct role.

In previous months, base loadouts were seen as ready-to-use: the expectation was a Soldier would load their gear and be immediately ready for anything. This is still technically the case -- insofarmuch as default loadouts are fully equipped -- but we no longer expect Soldiers to be content with what they spawn with. Our expectation is that Soldiers will -- guided by their NCOs -- make adjustments to their kit based on METT-TC. For example: if the mission takes place during daytime, Soldiers could leave behind their night equipment to save weight and space, perhaps replacing it with more ammunition. If heavy armor is expected, Soldiers might equip HP AT-4s and pass out LAWs to fireteam leaders. To this end, we have expanded the items available in the limited arsenal. Please be responsible with this as we switch over to a more reliable system.

Actual adjustments made to loadouts are many, but should not significantly effect your roles. I will not list them all, but you can expect to see among other things grenadiers with more 40mm rounds and a wider variety of munitions, SAW ammo dispersed among the squad, and improved weight (no soldier weighs more than 60 lbs (27.2KG) with their base loadout).

Use your squad drills and this weekend's FTX to experiment with the new system. As always, use the Suggestion Box if you have ideas for further improvements.
